乔治・A・罗梅罗（George A. Romero）1940 年 2 月 4 日出生于美国纽约，是影史公认的 “现代僵尸片之父”，以低成本恐怖电影与深刻的社会批判，彻底重塑了恐怖类型片的创作格局。他早年就读于卡内基梅隆大学艺术系，毕业后从广告片与短片创作起步，1968 年自筹 11.4 万美元拍摄首部长片《活死人之夜》，以粗粝的黑白影像、颠覆性的 “食人脑僵尸” 设定，打破传统恐怖叙事框架，更借僵尸危机隐喻当时美国的种族歧视与社会分裂，成为恐怖电影史上的里程碑。
